Small Groups

Monday: We spoke about what the children did over the weekend. After they told a teacher what they did, they then drew a picture about what they did and wrote about it. Once they were done drawing their pictures and writing about it a teacher illustrated their work.

Tuesday: The children drew Self Portraits. We spoke about skin color, hair color, and eye color. We also spoke about where all of our body parts are.

Wednesday: We have been working on writing our names so today we did some name writing practice. The children found the letters in their names and then practiced writing their name 3 times.

Thursday: We got out some popsicle sticks and strings and practiced making shapes. The children made squares, rectangles, circles, and triangles. After they made their shapes they created their own items such as houses, people, etc.

Friday: We read the book “Go Away Big Green Monster”. After we read the story the children got to Create-A-Monster. They choose a piece of paper then they were able to use different shapes and sizes to create a monster however they wanted to. They all turned out really cool!

Large Group:

Monday: We danced to the song Button Factory. This song gets the children using both of their arms and legs while also nodding their head.

Tuesday: We listened to the song Melody Movement. With this song the children have to listen to certain sounds and then move accordingly. They have to tip-toe, walk, hop, run, gallop, and skate.

Wednesday: The children requested to do the Cowboy Dance. This song gets the children in a cowboy stance and then they have a lasso and dance around.

Thursday: We danced to the Silly Dance Contest song. The music plays for a short time and then freezes. The children have to freeze like a statue before the music starts to play again.

Friday: We read the book “Go Away Big Green Monster”. The book starts out with 2 yellow eyes, one greenish-bluish nose, a big red mouth with sharp white teeth, 2 squiggly ears, purple scraggly hair, and a big green face. Once the monster is made the children then get to tell the monster to go away. Saying “Go Away” big green face, purple hair, ears, mouth, nose, and eyes.
