Week 14

Small Groups

Monday: The children did an activity called “What Goes Together?” They were each given a card that had 3 pictures on it. Then there was a pile of materials that went with the cards. We discussed each item and as we discussed each item they found the picture on their cards that went with them. Such as a bee lives in a beehive, seashells are found on the beach, and a baby uses a baby bottle.

Tuesday: The children got to color and write in their Thanksgiving Books. They had to write the missing word in the sentence strip with the help of a teacher writing it on a white board. Once they wrote the word in their book they colored their pictures.

Wednesday: We worked on sorting. This time we used buttons. There were big and small buttons, they were all different colors and also different shapes. The children had boards that they used to place the correct buttons on.

Thursday: The children were very creative! They were given pipe cleaners, Popsicle sticks, tape and tin foil. They were able to create 3D artwork. The children created butterflies, suns, snakes and so much more.

Friday: We did Tooth Brush Painting. The children choose 3 colors that they wanted to use then they used a tooth brush to paint on their paper. After they were done with their own paper, each small group created their own artwork that will later be hung up in the classroom.

Large Group

Monday: We sang the song “Teasing Mr. Alligator”. In this song there are five monkeys in a tree and an alligator comes along and snaps the monkey’s out of the tree.

Tuesday: The children requested singing 5 Little Monkey’s Jumping on the Bed. They have been wanting to sing this song for a very long time. There is a felt story that goes with the song so we got that out as well to go along with the song.

Wednesday: We sang the song 5 Little Ducks. This song also has a felt story that goes with it. It starts out with 5 ducks and goes down to none. Then the daddy duck calls them back and all five ducks come back.

Thursday: The children were very creative with their pipe cleaner creations during Small Group that we ran out of time for Large Group. So we spent a couple extra minutes outside running around.

Friday: We read the story “There was an old lady who swallowed a fly”. The children got the routine of the story and started to recite part of the story as I read it. There is also a felt story that goes with the story as well and the children loved it.
