Video Project

Film Project

Students will create a 2-3 minute long video.

Your topics:

  • animals
  • extreme sports
  • news / media
  • environment

You can create some sort of show related to your topics.

Students will be divided in groups of four-five students.

Students will write scripts, create props, film and edit their movie.

Requirements:

  • Following the schedule/completing steps on time
  • Film will be 2-3 minutes in length (minimum)
  • EVERY STUDENT IS FULLY ENGAGED
  • Using the vocabulary of Chapters 5-8 (at least 4 phrases per student of the group + other vocab words for effort/higher grade)
  • Following the rubric to make sure you receive the best grade possible

 

Script:

Step 1: Write in English (GoogleDocs)

Step 2: Translate into French (writing in class)

 

Props:

  1. Create with paper/pencils/scissors
  2. Bring things from home
  3. Borrow
  4. Be creative!

Filming:

  1. Decide which scenes to shoot where (outside, gym, classroom, etc)
  2. Use your electronic devices or check out the flip-camera from Ms. Nelson.
  3. Ensure quality audio (we have to be able to hear you!)
  4. Practice your lines! Remember! Your pronunciation is very important for this grade (as well as memorization of lines).

Editing:

  1. We will work in the lab.
  2. Julie Nelson is available for assistance.
  3. Product must be ready May 6th at the end of the class. NO LATER.

You will receive two grades: group grade and personal grade. It is important that everyone is included in group work. I will keep the track of the work you do by recording your daily input.

Le 24 avril, vendredi – ENGLISH VERSION IS DUE AT THE BEGINNING OF CLASS / Work on translating

 

WEEKEND: Work with your partners via GoogleDocs/ remember to share with Madame

 

Le 27 avril, lundi – Working on French script

Le 28 avril, mardi – No classes / ACT testing at LSE

Le 29 avril, mercredi – Filming/Props

Le 30 avril, jeudi – Filming ( At this time I have your French script submitted)

Le 1ier mai, vendredi – Filming

 

WEEKEND – Filming

 

Le 4 mai, lundi – Editing

Le 5 mai, mardi – Housekeeping

Le 6 mai, mercredi – Editing

Le 7 mai, jeudi – Editting

Le 8 mai, vendredi – Watching the videos / voting

Le 11 mai, lundi – Awards!

Dialogue Excellent 9-10Each member of the group is fully involved in dialogue.

 

 

Good 8-7 One or two members of the group have a short participation in the dialogue. Fair 6-5There is only one student who takes on the dialogue. Most members of the group have very few phrases.

 

4 or less pointsThere is too little dialogue for members of the group to participate in. This makes the movie silent.
Props Excellent 9-10Students used 5 or more props and all contributed to the performance making the skit very entertaining!

 

Good 8-7Students used 3-4 props and most contributed to the understanding of the performance. Fair 6-5Students used 2 props and most contributed to the understanding of the performance. 4 or less pointsStudents used 0-1 props in their skit and/or props did not contribute to the performance.

 

Creativity Excellent 9-10The student’s work was very creative and unique! Good 8-7The student’s presentation was creative and unique, however had room for improvement.
Students worked together with little or no problems, video was on time, and/or organization was lacking but acceptable.

 

Fair 6-5The student’s presentation was a little creative, room for improvement.
Students worked together, video was on time, preparation was unorganized, and/or took away from the overall quality of the work.
4 or less pointsThe students presented little creativity in their skit. Students worked together poorly, video was late, preparation was unorganized, and/or took away from the overall quality of the work.

 

Script Excellent 9-10 The script is neatly written, easy to read. The dialogue is clear (it is easy to understand which character says what). No grammatical mistakes. Cover page has title of the film, students’ names and date. Good 8-7The script is neatly written and easy to read. The dialogue is clear and has a couple of grammatical mistakes. Cover page has title of the film, students’ names and date. Fair 6-5The script is not neatly written. The dialogue is unclear and contains several grammatical mistakes and/or 1-2 pieces of the required data on the cover page (name, date, and/or title) are missing. 4 or less pointsScript is sloppy, difficult to understand. Many grammatical errors. Cover page is missing a lot of data or no cover page at all.
