Why take French 3 and 4?

  • It is a requirement for majority of the universities that you have 4 years of the same language to graduate from college.
  • In college, level 3 and 4 will cost you a lot of money!
  • It is worth getting your language requirement done in high school!
  • If you take level 3, 4 and AP as a junior or senior, you get a chance to earn college credits through Nebraska Wesleyan Honors Academy Dual Credit Program.
  • Madame Van Zandt is an adjunct instructor at NWU and can offer you this opportunity starting fall of 2017. Leave high school with college credits and save some $$$!

Nebraska Wesleyan University Honors Academy Dual Credit Program

  • Save time and money!
  • Transfer credits nearly anywhere!
  • Register for credit after trying the class! (Awesome for AP French!) – For classes starting in January, the regular registration deadline is the second Friday in February.
  • Earn a scholarship to attend NWU.
  • Pay a low tuition rate of $90 per credit hour and no fees ($360 per class for levels 2, 3, 4 & AP).
  • Take pressure off your first year of college by completing some courses now.
  • Give yourself more time for extracurricular activities, add another major or graduate from college early.

Requirement: Must be junior or senior in HS

The AP® French Language and Culture course

  • Integrates language, content, and culture.
  • Helps students “function in the language” rather than “learn language function”.
  • Promotes fluency and accuracy in language use, recognizing the importance of language structures, but placing priority on communication. (see next page)
  • You and your peers love French! This is really powerful and can be so fun for you!
  • The dynamic of an AP class is generally more close-knit and more like college-level than any others. It is great prep for college.
  • Things studied and discussed are relevant and motivating.
  • NWU Dual Credit – graduate high school with college credits!

Other opportunities:

Le Grand Concours: National French Contest (takes place at the end of February) – Apply by January 20th.
