GIRLS BASKETBALL

Lux Girls Basketball 2009

The Lincoln Public Schools Middle Level Intramural program is designed to give students experience playing an activity in a comfortable, nonthreatening environment.  Students participating in Lux Girls Basketball will work on developing game skills, and working on playing basketball within the dynamics of a team.

The first week will be spent assessing student skills and dividing up into three teams.  The A team will be for students who have a good handle on fundamentals and working within a team.  They will work on increasing the speed of the game and running multiple offenses and defenses.  The B team will work on learning a few offensive and defensive plays with an added focus on mastering the fundamentals of the game.  The C team will spend a majority of the time working on basic basketball fundamentals with some instruction and experience running plays in a game atmosphere.

Students participating in Lux Basketball need to understand the following things:

  • Basketball is a school activity and all school rules will be enforced at practices and in games. Outstanding character and sportsmanship will be discusses and expected. Consequences for inappropriate behavior will be handled by Mr. Burch.
  • Communication is very important when participating in intramurals. If you are not going to be able to participate in a game or practice it’s important to get a note to Mr. Burch as soon as possible to be excused for that absence. If no note is provided you may be asked to sit out a game, or your playing time may be cut.
  • Coaches have given up their time to come and work with students on building basketball skills and gaining experience. Coaches must be treated with the utmost respect. Any problems with respect towards coaches will be handled by Mr. Burch
