The Lux Intramural program is designed to teach young people the basic fundamentals of athletic activities, and provide a safe and fun arena for them to develop their skills, and participate in the designated activity in a controlled environment. Participants will be taught to value qualities like: having a positive attitude, fair play, teamwork, being physically fit and demonstrating good character even in competition.
Volleyball practices will begin with a short meeting and explanation of the try out process. The first couple of practices will be spent evaluating skills and dividing the girls up into three teams. Teams may change throughout the year based on coach’s evaluation. Concerns about a child’s team need to be directed to Mr. Burch.
Participants will be expected to get changed, and out to practice by 3:10. Rides need to be available to pick students up at 4:45. Games will be played on Saturday mornings with the first game starting at 8:30, the second at 9:30, and the final game at 10:30.
The following guidelines for players at Lux Middle School must be followed:
- Students need to attend all practices, unless excused by a note from their parent/guardian. Notes should be given to Mr. Burch (Athletic Director) prior to missing the practice if possible. Being absent from school due to illness does not require a note from home to be excused. Unexcused absences will result in reduced playing time, or a possible suspension from play.
- Participants will follow all Lux Middle School rules when participating in the intramural program.
- Please get a note to Mr. Burch if you are not going to be able to participate in one of the scheduled games. Absences affect game line ups and the plan for equal playing time for all participants.
