Busy Bees in Rousseau PE!

images-2Its beginning to look like a school again around Rousseau as teachers prepare for students’ arrival! It is quite exciting with all the buzzzz!

Now that you know who your teacher is and what classroom you’re in, be sure you check the schedule when you come to Open House on Monday to prepare for “HAPPY FEET” in PE class and on the playground. Tennis shoes (“sneakers”) are a great choice everyday of school to be able to run and play safely at recess, and even more important on PE day.

images-5I can’t wait to hear about the busy bees you were this summer with all your activities in soccer, volleyball, basketball, baseball, softball, swimming, biking, skating, climbing, golfing, hiking…wow, I’ll bet you were very busy!! Let’s carry that fun “busy-ness” right into the school year!

Can YOU Complete a Mile Run?

Give it a try! Sometime in the next 10 days (up to October 13 Pumpkin Run) try to complete 6 laps of the bottom playground or 7 laps on the trail of the top playground. At 2 recesses each day, that is 20 recesses! Pick ONE recess, start slow, find a steady pace and finish fast. Run with relaxed shoulders and hands, soft feet, and breathe well throughout your run! Let me know the results! Have FUN!

2012-2013 PHYSICAL EDUCATION = BE FIT TO LEARN!

Physical Education is off to a running start as always! Students at Rousseau are fit and healthy, making PE a great place to be to learn at an even higher level (children who are fit score higher on academic tests!), to learn what it means to live with interdependence (we all need each other to be our best!), and work to lead with character. When at play, your character is on display- we can actually SEE sportsmanship, respectfulness, trustworthiness, and caring in action, so show us your best and lead the way to great character and a fun, active year!

Return to this website during the year for interesting facts such as those below. Beginning with most enlightening yet well-known facts …fit kids learn better 🙂

LPS students who are fit achieve better scores on NeSA math and reading.
