Gems from the GYM!

Welcome to the first day of a new school year at the fabulous Rousseau Elementary! It was exciting to see all the Rousseau families and students at Open House last week and I hope you met Mrs. Foster who will also teach PE at Rousseau this year! We have great plans for awesome fun and fitness in the gym! Be sure you look at your schedule this week to see if you have PE so you can WEAR YOUR TENNIS SHOES to be safe as you play and learn in the gym and on the playground!

Keep tuned to this website for PE information all year! First up in class is reviewing playground activities and safety procedures! Do you remember how to use all the climbing equipment for strength, and where you can use soccerballs or footballs?

Hello Rousseau families from our Nation’s capitol! As a National Certified Teacher, I am involved in helping update the standards to achieve national certification in Physical Education this week with 15 other educators from around the United States! I love sharing great examples of our students’ and parents’ great work to make Rousseau “the place to be” for the best education has to offer! PROUD TO BE  A ROUSSEAU RAM! 🙂

Go Lefty (one of my favorites, Phil Mickelson!! Go Zach Johnson (our hometown boy from Iowa) with the stylish glasses as always! And wow, look at Rory go again! Makes you want to go play golf- so Rousseau kids, head over to Jim Ager course on South Street at Capitol Parkway and spend a great day outdoors! Remember, “brush tic toc” to putt, “y chip y” to chip, “L away, sweep low, hold the Y” to pitch, and “circle back, sweep low, circle high” to full swing! But mostly, just have FUN! 🙂

My website has been neglected. Well, NO MORE! A new year’s resolution right here in the middle of the year! Check it regularly for news about Rousseau Physical Education, answers to your questions, questions to your answers and  health and fitness information for young people from my point of view…since it is, after all, my website! 🙂 Hope it helps!

I hope everyone is getting outside and playing in the SNOW today! Help your parents shovel, build a fort, make and throw snowballs safely, make an angel in the snow, make snow people, try to run in the snow! You’ll be amazed how warm it feels outside once you get going! Be safe and have a great time!
