Out and About in Lincoln

knowledge-vs-experience

Getting out in the community is a great way for kids to expand their knowledge about the world, gain new ideas, build vocabulary, and bond with parents/caregivers.  Lincoln and the surround areas have a number of things to do as a family.  Some of the ideas I post might cost money, but I’ll try to post as many free or cheap things as I can find!

Library Story Times – The libraries in Lincoln have numerous opportunities for story times.  The story times are developmentally appropriate for young children as the librarians include songs, rhymes, and games along with the book reading.  They have daytime and evening events to accommodate any schedule.

Library Special Events – A variety of FREE special events hosted by the libraries in town for your family to enjoy.

Lincoln Parks and Recreation – There are many things to do outside in Lincoln.  You can play at parks (the very BEST free activity in my opinion), walk on the trails, go to the swimming pool, hang out at the FREE sprayground at Trago park, and probably more.  Check out their website.

Ager Play Center – The indoor play center is lots of fun for all preschool kids, and they have special developmental play sessions for kids with developmental disabilities.

Home Depot Free Kids Workshops – The first Saturday of every month, Home Depot has a free project for kids.  They say the projects are for ages 5-12, but some 3’s and 4’s could probably do it with help from mom and dad!

Kids Dream Movie Series at Southpointe – Through March 16, Southpointe has $2.00 movies on Saturday and Sunday mornings.
