Newspaper project – L’automne 2014, Français 4, Chapitre 6
- You will choose your own partners. The groups will be the size of five students.
- As a group, you will create a French name for your newspaper. The newspaper will be about school and/or community life. You may conduct interviews, observations, surveys, etc., then you will report your findings through the print.
- Each student will write an article (summative writing). We will be writing in class to avoid the temptations of google translate.
- Themes of the articles: each student will have a different theme (for example, one student can write about one person in our class (interview) and share why they are so wonderful, another student may write about any sport event, the third student – volunteer opportunities/events (for instance, the activities of student council), the fourth student – art activities (theatre, music, etc.). It is really up to you! It is free and creative writing.
- So, possible topics are:
- Interview (student or teacher)
- sport event
- music/art/theatre event
- community event
- volunteer/service opportunity
- survey + share your findings
- entertainment article
- letters to the editor
- Length: at least three paragraphs, 5 sentences per paragraph
- Grammar: you will work with your teammates and Madame to help you edit your article.
- Images: Wouldn’t that be wonderful if you put some images in your paper?! You may use your smart phones or other electronic devices to take a picture of your interviewee, event, etc. Place the image in your article, so that the newspaper in not solely dry print but is also appealing with some (appropriate) pictures. (We will print a color copy of your paper)
- Your audience is your classmates. Make your articles relevant to your audience!
- YOU MUST EMAIL ME YOUR NEWSPAPER AT THE END OF THE CLASS ON THURSDAY, DEC. 4th, SO I CAN PRINT IT OUT AND GET IT READY FOR TUESDAY!!!!!
This is summative grade based on writing/grammar, effort, and teamwork.
