Retelling

Use your hand to retell a story and to promote comprehension.

• Palm – Them or Main Idea
• Pinky – Characters — Who is the main character?  Who are the other characters?
• Ring – Setting — When and where did the story take place?
• Middle – Events — What was the sequence of events?
• Pointer – Problem — Was there a problem in the story?  What was the problem?
• Thumb – Solution — How was the problem solved?
