I am so excited for the 2012-2013 school year to begin!!
I have enjoyed the summer break. Our family started the summer with a short camping trip to Lake McConaughy. I then spent a couple weeks taking classes for the Primarily Math program. I read a few books and enjoyed time with my kids. The remaining time was spent preparing for the school year.
I am looking forward to meeting and getting to know each of the new kindergartners. I am looking forward to working closely with the families to make this school year an amazing one.
I would like to introduce myself. My name is Sara Andersson. I have been teaching with Lincoln Public Schools since October of 1998 when I started subbing throughout the district. I taught two years at Belmont, spent a year subbing, then began teaching kindergarten at Norwood Park. I was there until Kooser opened. This will be my fourth year at Kooser. I LOVE teaching kindergarten. The kids (and their families) are amazing, the growth is outstanding and no two days are ever the same.
I earned my undergraduate degree from Nebraska Wesleyan. I have a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction with an endorsement in Early Childhood Education from Doane College. I also have a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Doane College. This past summer I completed a math program through UNL called Primarily Math. This program has allowed me to obtain a K-3 Math Specialist Certificate. I truly believe that the best teachers are the ones that are always learning.
I have been married to Roger for nearly 17 years. We have five children. Nathan is 14 and will be a freshman at East High. He will be playing football this fall. Shanese is 10 and in 5th grade, Vivian is 8 and in 3rd grade and Tabi is 6 and will be in first grade at Pyrtle Elementary. Our youngest, Brayden is soon to be 4. We have a very busy house and are always on the go.
Kindergarten is a year packed full of learning and fun. Should you have any questions please feel free to contact me at the school (436-1146). The best times are before or after school or while students are in specials (1-1:50). I am looking forward to working with you and your students!
