Be able to evaluate the importance of nutrition for making healthy lifestyle choices
Analyze the factors that affect diet related to culture, religion/beliefs, traditions, heredity, food availability by examining and/or planning a variety of alternative meal patterns

Unit 1- Policies and Procedures ; Objective – To learn Lincoln Southwest High School classroom policies and procedures.

Unit 2 – Safety and Sanitation; Objective – To learn how to manage food safely in the classroom, home kitchens and restaurants.

Unit 3: Measuring and Equivalents – Objective; to learn how to measure ingredients with proper techniques and with correct equipment. to learn the equivalent measures for ingredients.

Unit: My Plate – Objective – To identify which foods are in each group and what amounts to select for healthy life choices.

Unit: Wellness – Students learn about the relationship between eating and health. They learn about the nutritional needs of the body at all stages of life.

Unit: Nutrients – To be able to identify the six basic nutrients and their function in the body and be able to analyze how lifestyle behaviors and food patterns can affect digestion and absorption processes.
