Another great week to come!

We have a short week coming up, but it won’t be short on the amount we will accomplish and learn!
Writing
We continue to work on our 3rd Quarter genre of Persuasive Essays. This week students will pick a topic that they feel strongly about. They will be working on writing a persuasive essay that includes a thesis statement, reasons an examples, and addressing a counter argument.
Math
We will start the week with our District Common Assessment #3 to see what areas we need to address with re-teaching prior to the NeSA-Math in April. One way to help your child at home is to continue to practice multiplication and division facts. We will also be starting Chapter 19: Fractions. The test for this chapter will be Friday, March 6th.
Reading
We will be combining the learning and skills of Unit 5 Week 1 and 2. There will be no Week 1 spelling test this week. You can expect new spelling words on Friday with the test being the following Thursday.  This week we will read stories to answer the essential question, “In what ways do people show they care about one another?”. The vocabulary skill will be Figurative Language: similes and metaphors.  The next two weeks our strategy will be Visualization and our skills will be Character, Setting, Problem and Solution, and Cause/Effect. This unit our grammar skills will be about adjectives.
Unit Studies
Our class moves on to Social Studies this week with Miss Copening where they will continue to learn about Nebraska History.
