Welcome back!!
Today marks our first day back to school in 2015! There are many new things starting in 4th grade.
Reading – Our new unit begins today with the big idea: How do different writers treat the same topic. The other focus for the unit is “Our Government”. This week’s essential question is: Why do we need government? Our weekly skills are: Cause and Effect, Ask and Answer questions, Latin Roots and Pronouns. The spelling skill is inflectional endings -ed and -ing. We will continue to have weekly reading homework coming home on Mondays and due on Fridays.
Math – we will begin Chapter 14/15 on Graphing and Analyzing Data. The test for this chapter is scheduled for Thursday, January 15th.
Writing – January brings the State Writing Test. We will continue to prepare and practice writing personal narratives.
Science – We start a new Unit Studies rotation this week. Our homeroom will start with science with me. This quarter’s science topic is Space.
