We start the year looking at Native American culture. See culture regions power point. They will take notes about the culture regions on this chart. Students are expected to memorize and be able to differentiate these definitions

We will take a look at the spread of information and exchange through exploration. Students will view a power point on exploration and take notes.

Students will use the Habits of Mind to look at the different perspectives on Christopher Columbus. Students will look at different artists portrayals of Columbus’ landing in the new world.They will do some readings on the different perspectives and then create a poster portraying Columbus from two different points of view.

We will then take a look at the 13 North American British Colonies. We will start with the first permanent colony of Jamestown. We will take a virtual field trip to both Jamestown and Williamsburg. We will do some map work on the 13 colonies and learn about the differences between the colonies. Students will complete a chart on the colonies
