World History

Welcome to the World History Home Page.  Using the links below or to your left you will be able to access the announcement page and your portfolio page.

The World History curriculum is divided into two semesters.  Each of the semesters is designed to provide a global perspective of the history of our world.  The first semester curriculum begins in the year 1450 and wrap up in the year 1914.  While the second semester curriculum picks off where the first left off in 1914 and ends at present day.  The standards for first semester World History are as follows:

Standard 1 (500-1450): Interaction of Civilizations
After concluding World History Standard 1, students will understand how the development of regional empires led to interactions between civilizations, resulting in both changes and conflict.

Standard 2 (1450-1750): Global Expansion and Cross-Cultural Exchanges
After concluding World History Standard 2, students will understand the significant political, economic, and cultural transformation that occurred as a result of global expansion and encounters between 1450 and 1750.

Standard 3 (1750-1914): New Global Interactions

After concluding World History Standard 3, students will understand the global changes that occurred as a result of revolutions, industrialization, nationalism, and imperialism from 1750 through 1914.

The standards for second semester World History are:

Standard 4 (1914-1945):  A Half-Century of Crisis and Conflict

After concluding World History Standard 4, students will understand the circumstances that led to global conflict, technological advancements, and economic and social change during the first half of the 20th century.

Standard 5 (1945-Present Day):  Development of Contemporary Global Society

After concluding World History Standard 5, students will understand the conflicts and independence movements that shaped the international relationships of the modern world.
