What is the difference between Formative and Summative appraisals? Easy! A formative grade shows the practice that you get in a certain skill. It shows evidence that you are “forming” your language skill. A summative grade is the summary of what you have learned. It is in the summative grade that you are showing me what you have learned in the unit/lesson.
