Other Responsibilities

SCIP Team Leader: SCIP provide a process of identification, screening, referral and support of students experiencing problems which interfere with learning, possibly related to alcohol and other drugs, but not limited to substance use/abuse. The team receives student referrals from teachers, other staff or parents and meets to monitor referrals, plan interventions and/or refer parents and students to mental health agencies for screening evaluations. Each year in October, the SCIP team plans and coordinates Red Ribbon Week.  This includes arranging for guest speakers, programs, assemblies and activities to reinforce the importance of making healthy, drug-free choices.

Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports Tier 1 & 2 Team Member and AIM Coordinator: This group, consisting of teachers and other school staff, plans and facilitates school-wide and individual teaching and recognition of desired behavior, as well as interventions to correct misbehavior. Including Mickle Money, Mickle Missile Space Station (School Store), AIM, etc.

Bully Prevention Committee Team Leader: This group, consisting of teachers and other school staff, discusses topics related to bullying. We create activities that enhance the emotional, social, and educational development of Mickle students. Activities include anti-bully week, no name calling week and random acts of kindness.

SMART Team Member: This group addresses issues related to excessive student absences in addition to students on probation.

PLC/Data Team Member: This group consists of the 3 counselors at Mickle Middle School. Our focus is to collect and chart data in order to analyze and prioritize student needs.

SAT Team Member: This group provides a framework for assisting students whose educational performance and/or behavior seem to be interfering with academic progress.
