COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course is taught in Spanish.

The fourth year of Spanish focuses attention on the individual student by emphasizing continuous progress in writing, reading, and civilization. Speaking and listening comprehension is strengthened by the use of the language in class activities. Literature, in the form of articles, poetry and short stories, provides greater emphasis on reading and new insight into the culture of the Spanish speaking world including the countries of the Andes (Ecuador, Perú, Bolivia), Spain, Venezuela and Columbia as well as the countries of Chile, Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay.

We will cover 8 units in the text, ¡AVANCEMOS!, Level 3/4. Each unit contains 2 lessons and we will spend approximately 2-3 weeks on each followed by a quiz or other assessment. At the end of the lesson, there will be a test, project or a combination of the two. A final exam will be given at the end of each semester.
