The “THANK YOU!” Issue of Weekly Notes

Science Fair:  Thank you to Mrs. Johnson for organizing the Science Fair!  Thank you to all the judges, parents, and students who participated.

BOX TOPS:  Thank you to Pastor Hamilton (Our Saviours Lutheran Church, retired) for collected and donating to Randolph 30,000 box tops for education, and 4600 labels for education!  Pastor Hamilton buys the foods, clips the box tops and labels, and then donates the food to various charities in Lincoln.  Four of his grandchildren attended Randolph.

Drop & Drive/ Kiss and Go:  Thank you to all the families who have adapted to the no parking on D Street, and have made the Kiss & Go campaign a success for the safety of students arriving at school!

Thank you to the Our Saviours Lutheran Church volunteers who come to Randolph each week to read with children and help in classrooms.  Our teachers and students appreciate your help!

Thank you to all the families (in Family Service, band, strings, chorus, and clubs) who have changed their morning routines to make the locked doors practice successful for the safety of our school at before and after school times.  This practice helps defend against theft, vandalism, and crimes of opportunity because our doors are monitored more closely.

Parent Volunteers for grade 4’s Outdoor Education “Spring Training” and Camp deserve lots of thanks for preparing for and coming to camp!  It’s an extraordinary experience for our students, made possible by families, staff, and PTA members and contributors!

Thank you to classroom teachers and staff who have adjusted to having all of our classroom doors locked during the school day.  The doors’ locks are on the OUTSIDE of the door, so in an emergency, teachers would need to walk into the hallways to lock their doors.  With our locked policy, teachers just pull their doors closed in an emergency.  Safety is our concern, and staff and students have made this change seamlessly.  Thank you!

The Spring Book Fair earned $3600 for the purchase of Scholastic books for our Randolph library!  Thank you to Mrs. Bamesberger for organizing the fair, and to ALL our contributors for their support of our library!

Love and Logic Moment:

Three Steps for Little Tykes

Over the past three decades, we’ve noticed that the most successful parents begin early in their children’s lives with these steps:

Step One: Pray for your teeny-tiny ones to misbehave or be resistant.

Remember: The road to wisdom is paved with mistakes.

Step Two: Sing a sweet, empathetic, “Uh-Oh!”

Step Three: Follow through by taking over in a loving way.

Little Larry is nine months old and ready to do some major crawling and some major grabbing of Fluffy the cat’s tail. Since his parents are praying for misbehavior, they are elated instead of exasperated.

They sing, “Uh-Oh,” and put Larry into his playpen away from Fluffy.

Larry is now sixteen months old. He’s being resistant to getting into his car safety seat. His mother’s prayers have been answered!

“Uh-Oh,” she sings as she straps him into his car seat.

Larry is now three. Every time he hears, “Uh-Oh,” he thinks, “Uh-Oh!” and stops misbehaving.

It’s never too early to teach your children that your word is gold.  Hear the “Uh-Oh, Song,” modeled on the audio CD, Toddlers and Pre-Schoolers.

Thanks for reading! Our goal is to help as many families as possible. If this is a benefit, forward it to a friend.
