Here Comes October!

Randolph School News for September 28, 2012

NO SCHOOL on Monday, October 1st.

This is a quarterly plan day for elementary teachers.

This PLC day 0, students extended the mural street painting (2010) to the north wall of the front yard.  Come by and admire their work, and check out the in progress photos at:

WEDNESDAY is “International Safe Walk to School Day”

Everyone is encouraged to WALK TO SCHOOL on Wed. October 3rd.

(If you live far enough away that you drive to school, try parking a few blocks away and walk to Randolph.  Every child who walks (or bikes) to school that day will get a certificate.

BOOK FAIR SUCCESS!

Here are the final numbers for the book fair:
Sales:   $4418.82
Our profit in Scholastic Dollars/Points:  $2209.41

Book Fairs involve lots of work and lots of time, but is successful because of all the help from all of the parent volunteers. All teachers received many books for their classrooms. Also, student learning will hopefully increase as they read their purchases and new books that will be available in the media center. Thanks for all your support!   Linda B.

Avoid Drinking Extra Calories

“We’re drinking more calories then ever…we consume

450 calories a day from beverages, nearly twice as many as 30 years ago. This increase amounts to an extra 23 pounds  a year that we are forced to work off or carry around with us.”  Eat This Not That, 2009

Thirsty?….Skip the Soda…Drink Water!

One 12 oz can Pepsi = 150 calories

150 calories/day x 350 days = 52,500 calories.

This is equal to 32 pounds of sugar!

This will create 15 pounds of weight that you will have to

work off or carry around with you.
