December 8

Wow, November and the first week of December sure did fly by!  The students have been working so hard getting projects done for the end of the semester.  I have really been enjoying listening to their book talks, they are so creative!

We have also been working hard to get our research project finished up before the end of the semester.  We have completed the process part of the research (finding and evaluating resources, taking notes, creating our Inspiration organizational tool), and last week we started the actual writing process.  The students learned how to write a lead, thesis statement, topic sentences, and this week will turn their notes into sentences and paragraphs.  We will finish up by doing self-revision and peer editing.  I am hoping to be done by the end of this week or early next week.  It’s been a lot of work, but in the end they will have a well done research paper!

This week we will begin Unit 3 Week 5 in Wonders.  That means there is only one more week until the big Unit 3 test.  Please encourage your child to study the vocabulary words and the grammar packets for weeks 1-4 so they are prepared for the test.  This will help them quite a bit.

There are only two weeks until the end of the semester!  Before you know it, your child will be registering for 7th grade.  Please check to make sure they have all of their work turned in, so I can have it all graded before I have to turn in grades.  I hand out missing work slips at least once a week, so your child always knows if they have missing work at school so they can get any needed worksheets.

Thank you so much for everything you do.  It is a pleasure teaching your child, they make me proud!  They are a great group of kids!!
