This week we will begin Unit 1 Week 4 of Wonders.  We have two more units before our big unit test.  It would be a good idea for your child to begin studying the vocabulary words from the unit.  We will have studied 40 words by then, and 10 of them will be on the unit test.  You can access vocabulary games on the Wonders website, which is a fun way for your child to study.

We will also be discussing our quarterly book report.  For our first book, your child can choose any fiction book they would like, but I would like it to be a book they have not read before.  Please help your child choose an age appropriate book, no comic books.  There will be a project due toward the end of the quarter which I will talk to the students about a they get closer to being done with their books.

This week we will have the usual-spelling HW due Thursday, vocabulary HW due Tuesday.  We will also be doing a reciprocal teaching activity in groups toward the end of the week.

Our class will continue writing a “Trickster” story this week.  Most of this will be completed in class, but your child may have to work on the final draft at home.  I would prefer that it be typed, but it is not necessary.

Don’t forget conferences are this Thursday and next Tuesday from 4-7 pm.  The Book Fair will also be going on in the library, so stop by if you have some time.
