About Mr. Lenz

lpsprofile

I was born and raised in Lincoln, Nebraska. In 5th grade, I decided I wanted to play the Tuba. Throughout my education in LPS, I became more interested in music and began learning more instruments. During my time at UNL, I studied Double Bass and had great practicum experiences throughout LPS in the Vocal, Band, and String programs. I participated in Symphony Orchestra, Philharmonia, Jazz Orchestra, The Cornhusker Marching band, Big Red Express Pep Band, Campus Band, Symphonic Band, Percussion Ensemble, and Vocal Jazz. After student teaching at LSW in the Fall of 2012, I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education in December of 2012.

2016 will be my third year teaching at LSW as the Director of Orchestras and Assistant Director of Bands. Prior to teaching at LSW, I was a String Itinerant in LPS, teaching 4th and 5th grade Orchestra at 5 elementary schools. I am a member of the 43rd United States Army Band of the Nebraska National Guard, performing on Double Bass and Tuba. I can be found performing throughout Nebraska with various groups and schools playing bass, guitar, mandolin, tuba, or euphonium. I enjoy learning new instruments and playing a variety of music – jazz, bluegrass, polka, chamber music, rock, and many others.

I met my wife, Kathryn, in the University of Nebraska Cornhusker Marching Band. We enjoy traveling, hiking, board games, riding our bicycles, and working on projects around our house. We have two cats – a 15 year old gray tabby named Daisy, a 1 year old tabby named Theodore, and a two year old Golden Retriever-Cocker spaniel mix named Stella.
