Welcome to Grades 6-7  EdVenture Summer School!

How do we learn through inquiry?

We will explore various aspects of culture focusing on the recent events in Japan.  We will investigate tea, calligraphy, and games.  Our service learning project will be to nursing homes to share what we have learned.

How do we keep people safe during natural disasters?

We will learn about natural disasters by researching what causes the different forms of devastation. The research component of the project is to create a product that will convince others that the disaster they choose is the “Master of Disasters.” They will teach safety procedures for a variety of disasters, especially tornadoes, a common occurrence in Nebraska.

How do we design a school lunch menu that is culturally responsive, healthy, and appeals to all students?

  • How do we help people be healthy with the diet and habits in their country?
  • How does diet affect performance?
  • What are other countries eating that we should adopt in the US?
  • How do you convince people to choose the right foods?

The service learning project will be a presentation at one of the cultural centers in Lincoln.
