Deliver a Presentation like Steve Jobs
This article breaks down the ways in which Steve Jobs (CEO of Apple Computers) has become a master of the craft of presentations.
In reality, very few of us will ever have to stand in front of a room full of people and give a presentation on something. Or do we?
If you really look at them, most of these tips would be just as effective for a classroom teacher presenting a lesson to their students as they would for the CEO of a Fortune 500 company. Just replace the word “presentation” with “lesson” and “audience” with “class”.
In a nutshell:
- Set a theme for the lesson
- Be enthusiastic about the content
- Set a clear outline for the lesson
- Put statistics in context
- Plan a “moment” that the kids will remember
- Use slides that are images, not text
- Break it up with different medias here and there (video, audio clips, handouts, books, etc.)
- Gloss over mistakes in your presentation
- Focus on the benefit of the content to the kids
- Practice!
