Of the more than 9 billion videos viewed online in the month of July 2007, the average length was 2.7 minutes. That tells me if you want to capture eyeballs for longer than 3 minutes, your content had better be pretty darn good.

My own experience tells me that the video had better capture their attention within 10 seconds, or they have clicked away.

In the past year I have been finding myself focusing completely on the internet as a medium for all training materials- static or video. I had been questioning whether or not I was appropriate in this focus. These stats ease my mind a bit. 9 BILLION videos? An average of 3 hours/month of online video per person?  I think I’m headed in the right direction on this topic.
