NFL draft

The NFL draft, one of the most popular drafts in the world of sports. With the draft coming up, we asked some teachers about who will go 1st overall, What round will Randy Gregory (old DL/LB at Nebraska) go into after a failed drug test at the combine?, and Who their favorite team should pick first.

We asked Landon Miller:

  1. Who do you think will go first overall? “Jameis Winston”
  2. What will happen with Randy Gregory, what round will he get drafted in? “2nd round because he knew he was gonna get tested for drugs so it makes him look like an idiot”.
  3. Who should the Lions (his favorite team) take for the first pick? “probably a DL” (defensive lineman)

Next we asked Nate Miller:

  1. Who do you think will go first overall? “Jameis (Winston) just because that’s what Ive been hearing, I’ll say 80% Jameis Winston and 20% Marcus Mariota”
  2. What will happen with Randy Gregory, what round will he get drafted in? “I still think 1st round just not as high as he was projected because he could be making more money if he did not fail his test, he is a big dude I just dont know why he would do something stupid like that”
  3. Who should the Packers (his favorite team) take first? “A MLB (middle linebacker) with (Clay) Matthews would be nice”

According to NFL.com mock drafts, WInston is supposed to go the Tampa bay Buccaneers,  Mairota is projected to go to the Tennessee Titans, Donte Fowler jr projected to go to the Jacksonville Jaguars, and Amari Cooper projected to go the Oakland Raiders.

Husker Spring Game

On Saturday, April 11 at the Memorial Stadium, the Husker Spring Game took place. The Hail Varsity staff offers three final takeaways from the Red’s 24-15 win over the White in front of 76,881 at Memorial Stadium.
It was a chance to see Mike Riley on the field. During a press conference Mike Riley said the spring game format was doing it the “right way”. He said that he like to give the team an opportunity to take a hit, and satisfied him. During the spring game they talked about the Drug Free Pledge.
All tickets for the Red-White Spring Game are reserved and cost $10 each. All individuals must have a ticket for the game. Fans are encouraged to purchase their tickets early to ensure good seats as demand is expected to be high. Each of the past several years, more than 20,000 tickets were sold by the end of the first day of sales. Nebraska has drawn more than 54,000 fans for every Red-White game over the past decade.

LSU Spring Game

The LSU Tigers finished off their 2015 edition of spring practice at the National L Club spring game, the game ended 45-6 in favor of the starter-laden White team.

D.J. Chark

In 2013, LSU’s receiving corps was basically just Travin Dural. Though Malachi Dupre and John Diarse chipped in every so often, neither was a consistent factor. D.J. Chark looks like he’ll help change that.”His confidence is going through the roof,” quarterback Anthony Jennings said,”He came out in spring working on his hands, working on his feet. He’s one of the most explosive guys we have on the team speed wise. He’s coming out here showing it.

Anthony Jennings

As a sophomore in 2014, Anthony Jennings struggled. He completed just 48.9 percent of his passes and tossed seven interceptions against just 11 touchdowns.Jennings’ first throw of the spring game was tremendous, and his second attempt was even better—a 37-yard back-shoulder toss right on the money to Malachi Dupre.

Previous games: 2 losses against the Lincoln Blackhawks 12-4 and 8-0

The Nebraska Braves 14u (navy) gave it all they had this last weekend facing defending AAA gold bracket state champions Lincoln Blackhawks. Losing both games was not what the braves were hoping. Starting pitcher Taylor Jirovsky threw 4 steller shut-out innings with the braves up 4-0 in the top of the 4th, Easton Bentjen trying to shut the red hot hawks down gave up 7 runs in 2 innings after the bottom of the 4th the braves couldn’t get a hit off the Blackhawks and lost the first game 12-4.    Christian Harris got the start on the mound in the second game and threw 4 stellar innings until he experienced shoulder problems, he left the game while Easton Nelson came in the game throwing 3 innings “It was good that Christian came to us and told us he was having soreness/stiffness in his shoulder, because if he hadn’t he could have hurt himself and had to sit out a couple games due to injury” pitching coach Jeremy Webster stated. After the game Head/assistant coach Steve Buss says “We came ready to play these guys, we just had a couple of calls that didn’t go our way… we can’t control that guys. We hit the ball.. we just hit the ball at people. They hit the ball in the gap and we made some errors on easy fly/ground balls… that’s baseball boys.” The braves will be in action this Friday in Omaha for the tiger ropes tournament.
