Great Expectations Team meeting August 25, 2014

Present: Lissy, Connie, Michelle, McKenzie, Bethany, Kelly, Kiran, Susie, Christina, Annette, Wendy

Logistics: Common Areas (school-wide, non-classroom, classroom)

  • Working with FS – 3, 4, 5 forgoing line order – continue to monitor – need 3, 4, 5 to go to the gym then check in – WB will review with supervisors
  • Who helps with after school dismissal?
  • No kids walking on the wall down D street –
  • Everyone should be out – EATS are taking first grade students who need to go to vans out the East side (1st teachers will give each EAT a list.)
  • When we go out, all teachers need to go past the pillars – older students will walk out further
  • All teachers stay with their students outside until only a few left.
  • Review expectations of bringing kids back – when there is only one or two left, bring them back in and sign them in with Mrs. Wick. She will let the office know and the office will make calls – we are keeping the office quiet so we can make calls and help parents
  • Lunch room celebration / concerns –
  • All is going well – quiet
  • 2nd grade may need only 20 minutes (keep in mind for future planning)
Breakfast:  students leaving breakfast at 8:55 go to classrooms; do not try to walk against lines coming inside
  • East wing bathroom is better – K is tweaking how many go at the same time – 1st grade thinks going ok.
  • 5th is sending some kids downstairs to move transitions faster– Jenn watches
  • Other?
  • Indoor days too many parents – 1st week let it go – we will enforce it more from here on out.
  • Door 5 should not be open on indoor days only 6 – K will put in newsletter (Inclement weather days = all K-2 enter door 6. Parents leave there.)
  • (Inclement weather days = all 3, 4, 5 use door 10.)
  • Family service should not be using door 7 – AB will talk to supervisors
  • Flow after breakfast is slow right now – may improve – if morning bell rings, send students to class
  • 3, 4, 5 teachers remind FS kids to be appropriate at dismissa– FS supervisors noting students very loud and not listening to directions.
  •     K, 1, 2 students go directly to the cafeteria and check in there.
  •     3, 4, 5 students go directly to the gym and check in there.
  • Is K line up in morning too far away? -– Can we turn the opposite way so parents can walk to basket ball court? YES Turning the opposite way – AM supervisors help all students understand to walk counter-clockwise around the track.  That way, Kdg. families can use the track to walk children to the east basketball court.
  • Give a para the whistle for the last 2 minutes – “finish the lap you are on and line up”
  • Susie will practice with students when she talks about the buddy bench in lessons next week.
