Randolph Students Participate in LPS StudentServe Week

This week, while learning to think about and help other people, Randolph Students in grades K-5 have pulled weeds and cleaned up the butterfly garden, swept gravel off of the walking path, made “happy day” cards for Madonna patients, made Code of Conduct posters for our school,  made “Welcome to our School” notes for visitors, made “Happy Birthday” cards to give to students and packed activity bags for pediatrics wards. Thank you to our students for their thoughtful work for others.

This month’s fire drill time: 2 mins. 30 seconds.  Students were quiet, listened to directions, and evacuated the school safely.

drugs and alcohol and the importance of staying healthy. The National Family Partnership is offering a contest for families that could win your family an iPad, and $1000.00 for Randolph!

Here’s how the contest works:

LOVE and LOGIC MOMENT

To Pay or Not To Pay?

Brittney is fuming mad. Her friends get paid $20 for every A grade they get on their report card. Their B grades are worth $10.

As she tells me this she says, “My friend’s parents say that grades are a kid’s job, so they should be paid just like parents get paid to do their jobs. My parents keep telling me that nobody should get paid to do things that make their own lives better, and that’s what getting an education is.”

She goes on to complain, “And my parents are so clueless. They say that I have to do my share of the housework, and I don’t get paid for that either. They’re all worried that if I grow up like an honored guest in the home instead of a contributing member of the family that I’ll be selfish and self-centered just like my friends! Can you believe this?  They say that they don’t want to addict me to anything I won’t be able to earn for myself when I leave the home. I suppose they learned that out of that stupid book From Innocence to Entitlement!”

All I could think upon hearing this was, “Wow! How lucky she is to have great and wise parents.”

Thanks for reading! Our goal is to help as many families as possible. If this is a benefit, forward it to a friend.
