READING PRACTICE BOOKS:
Teachers, We’ve reached the point where economically it may make more sense to copy the workbook pages you use, rather than to buy entire new practice books. Please let Vicki know by Feb. 1st if your grade would prefer to buy new practice books or have booklets made of only some pages you use. The copies would be paid for from the Textbook account, where practice books are ordered.

Love and Logic Moment:
One of our basic human needs is to be needed and to be a part of a family. When children live their lives as guests in a four star hotel instead of as a contributing member of a family, this basic need is denied. The usual result is for them to feel increasingly resentful without knowing why.
One way to help a child feel needed, important, and valued in the family is to put him/her in charge of one family meal per week. This means planning, cooking, serving, and cleaning up. Most kids are capable of doing this by the time they are eight years old.
Of course the quality of the food will suffer temporarily while they are in training mode. But this changes dramatically as they learn and become excited about being able to cook.
Many parents report to us that their kids resist at first, but soon think that they enjoy cooking. In many cases, what the kids enjoy and don’t recognize are the wonderful feelings of being valued.
Thanks for reading! Our goal is to help as many families as possible. If this is a benefit, forward it to a friend.

Randolph Recipe Book!
Okay all of you chefs and bakers out there. WE NEED RECIPES!! I have copied and pasted the instructions below for you to submit recipes for our first ever Randolph Cookbook!! We were hoping to move this project along very quickly so that it might be possible for the books to be here for the Multicultural Fair on April 20th. Yes, the deadline is NEXT WEDNESDAY………but we will try to move that back a few days. I’ve already received some wonderful ethnic recipes and family favorites………but I only have FOUR RECIPES!!
We’re hoping for the cookbook to contain 250!!
Now here is your homework for the weekend…follow the link to the recipe form and write down 2 or 3 of your favorite specialties……or Grandma Mary’s specialty……or your “go to” recipe because it’s easy!!
I don’t want to mention names……..but Rob Vavala, Elizabeth Wunderlich, Kerri Hiatt, and Robert Perales………I KNOW you are great cooks because I’ve tasted your concoctions before!! PLEASE share some of your good cookin’ with us!! I expect my mailbox and email inbox to be FLOODED with recipes on Monday morning.
Your Culinary Counselor, Mrs. Mahoney
