Writing

The six traits of writing is a framework that uses a common language to refer to the characteristics of writing as well as to create a common vision of what good writing looks like.

 

1)    Ideas: The main message, the content and the main theme together will all the detail.

 

 

2)   Organization: Has an interesting beginning, ties together, builds to the good parts, easy to follow, feels finished at the end.

 

 

3)   Voice: Sounds like the author, what the author thinks, reader can tell the writer cares about the topic, you feel something when you read the story.

 

4)   Word Choice: The use of rich, colorful, precise language that not only communicates but moves and enlightens the reader.

 

5)   Sentence Fluency: The rhythm and flow of the story.

 

6)   Conventions: The mechanical correctness of the writing, which includes spelling, punctuation, capitalization, grammar/language, and paragraphing.
