Our class earned a celebration, so we set up the Clements Coffee Shop. The kids all had hot chocolate and shared their writing with the class.
Need help with math homework? Let one of our talented and hard-working third graders explain strategies in our helpful math videos. We are currently working on Chapter 18 (fractions) and some videos have been added to show how to find fractional parts of a group. Watch the kids show what they know on the Math Videos page.
We will have a Parent Information Meeting on Monday, November 18, from 3:15-3:45. The purpose is to discuss our Reading and Math curriculum and respond to parents’ frequently asked questions about how to help kids at home. Look for a flyer in Friday Folders.
Also, please consider joining us to ring bells at Gateway Mall on Saturday, December 7. This is a special tradition that started a few years back. We always have so much fun. Please let me know if you need a new sign-up sheet.
Our first math PLC goal for our students is that they are able to round to the nearest ten and hundred by using a number line.
When we round to the nearest ten, we need to think about how many tens are already in the number and if we are close to making a new group of ten or closer to not making a new group.
When we round to the nearest hundred, we need to think about how many hundreds are already in the number and if we are close to making a new group of one hundred or closer to not making a new group.

A few items of interest:
1. Under the “Reading” page of this website, I have added a link to the “Wonders” website, which is part of our new Reading curriculum. Students were shown how to access this today in school. They need to know their user names and passwords to enter the site. Once they are on the site, they can play reading games and see lessons and other tutorials.
2. Next, students are excited to bring an item from home to school with them on Monday. The kids will write a descriptive paragraph about the item. They were told they cannot bring anything that is alive.
3. Picture day is Tuesday!
