    Today is a “B” day

    *Sixth grade orchestra meets today after school.

    *Lincoln Southwest High School will be hosting an Open House for 8th graders tomorrow, January 20.  The event begins at 6:30 pm, and will provide students and their families an opportunity to learn about block scheduling, activities and clubs available to SWHS students, and meet various staff members.  Please contact the 8th grade counselor at Scott, Mrs. Raven at 436-1218 or Southwest High School at 436 1306 with any questions.

    *TIE Club will meet this Friday, January 21 at 7:10 am in Room 217.

    *What’s all the buzz about?  This year’s annual Lincoln Public Schools District Spelling Bee will be held Saturday, February 12, 2011 at Culler Middle School.  The District Spelling bee is for students in grades six through eight and is sponsored by the Lincoln Journal star, Godfather’s Pizza and Ventures in Partnership.  Scott students interested in participating should get a registration form from their English/Language Arts teacher.  Registrations are due January 31, 2011.

    *Japan travelers- Get ready to head out to the “Land of the Rising Sun”.  Plans are in the works for traveling to Japan in October of 2011.  The information meeting will take place at Lux Middle School, 7800 High Street, on Sunday, January 23 at 1:00 pm OR Monday, January 24 at 5:45 pm (the meeting should last about 45 minutes).  You need to attend only ONE of the meetings to receive the necessary information.  The trip is being planned for the dates of October 15-October 24.  Executive Travel will provide information and sign-ups will begin immediately.  Some fundraising projects will be discussed and planned as well.  If you are unable to attend or you have questions in advance, please contact Kathi Mercure at 423-6678 (cell) or kmercure@lps.org or Dru Sypal at 430-1995 or dsypal@lps.org.  We can also be reached at 436-1220, Lux Middle School.
