    Today is an “A” day.

*Jazz Ensemble will NOT meet after school today.  This rehearsal has been moved to tomorrow morning, January 13 at 7:15 am.

*Attention 8th graders:  It is NOT too late to join 70 of your classmates as they visit Washington, DC and Philadelphia April 16-21 with the Close Up Foundation.  See that history that you have studied in the classroom this year come alive with your classmates and friends.  You don’t want to miss out on this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!    See Mr. Ells or Mr. Murphy before Friday, January 14 if you want to be a part of the largest Close Up group ever from Scott Middle School!

*Attention 7th and 8th graders:  Do you like working with animals?  Do you want to get great leadership experience?  The Lincoln Children’s Zoo is currently taking applications for this summer’s Zoo Crew Program.  See your grade level counselor for an application.

*What’s all the buzz about?  This year’s annual Lincoln Public Schools District Spelling Bee will be held Saturday, February 12, 2011 at Culler Middle School.  The District Spelling bee is for students in grades six through eight and is sponsored by the Lincoln Journal star, Godfather’s Pizza and Ventures in Partnership.  Scott students interested in participating should get a registration form from their English/Language Arts teacher.  Registrations are due January 31, 2011.

*Today’s inspiring words for you to consider come from Mrs. Hellwege in a quote from Maya Angelou, “Intelligence is no always knowing the answer.  It is always asking the questions.”
