    School principals:

We believe the time has come to ensure all our schools at LPS have a few essential items on their websites.

LPS Superintendent Steve Joel has asked us to follow up with our schools to make sure we are providing some basics that will give the front pages of our school websites a sense of consistency and usefulness.

    Those essentials will include:

    • A photograph of the principal
    • A message from the principal
    • A brief paragraph about your school
    • Start and end times for school day
    • Basic contact information: phone number, address
    • A “contact us” form so web users can send questions and comments to your school.  (See contact form on the left side of the district website for an example, however, the school web contact form will automatically go to the school principal…we will build this for you)

In the next few weeks we will provide you with a simple demonstration website that illustrates what we are requesting, as well as an offer of technical support.  We also will set up a couple dates and times – when you are at LPSDO for principal meetings – to offer optional opportunities to have your photograph taken.

We believe these additions will help you in the long run in providing upfront information on the web, yet still allow space for originality and additional items.

We would hope to make these changes by the beginning of second semester, understanding your busy schedules.

If you have questions please feel free to contact us. We’ll send follow-up information in the next few weeks.

In the meantime, if you would please complete this one question survey so that we can ensure that our list of school web site managers is up-to-date, that will greatly help us provide them the support necessary to work towards this goal.

    Thanks so much.
