Yankee Hill Programs began in 2001 with a small staff and small number of students. It has grown to include three different programs and approximately fifty-five students over the years.

Seven teachers, four therapists, and support staff work together to assist students in the programs. The Yankee Hill Program was the first to launch with students with intellectual disabilities that have significant behavior issues. Yankee Hill Alternative Program started several years later, and serves students that are transitioning back to the district or have had some behavioral difficulty in their high school. The High School Behavioral Skills Program serves students with emotional disturbances that are having trouble with success in their neighborhood high schools.
