My name is Cyndie Wiesen. I have taught for Lincoln Public Schools for 21 years. Those
years have been spent in a 5th grade, 6th grade and 1st grade classrooms as well as in a
computer lab. Before moving to Lincoln, I taught at Aquinas Middle School in David City.
I grew up in Hastings, Nebraska. My parents still live there. They are fortunate enough
to be able to spend the winters at their house in the Florida Keys. I have two older sisters
and one younger brother. My oldest sister and her family split their time between the
Florida Keys and then come home to Lincoln for the summer. My other sister and her
family live in Lincoln. My younger brother and his family live out in Denver, Colorado.
I attended Creighton University and graduated from Nebraska Wesleyan University.
My husband, Mike, currently works for the Nebraska State Education Association. He is a
Uni-Serv Director. He works with the teachers throughout southeast Nebraska. Before working for the NSEA, he taught High School Business classes at Aquinas High School and Ashland-Greenwood High School. He kept busy coaching Football, Basketball and Track at both high schools.
Mike and I have three children. Nate, 23, is working at First National Bank. He continues to work on finishing his education. Seth and Sydney are twins. They are in their first year of college. Sydney is attending Nebraska Wesleyan University. She is planning on majoring in Biology and hopes to continue on to Medical School. In addition to her studies, she will play soccer for them this fall. Seth is in Omaha attending the University of Nebraska Omaha. He is majoring in Athletic Training. He has working in the training room the past four years and really enjoys working with athletes and their injuries. In addition to our three children, we have two dogs. Abby, is a 12-year-old golden retriever and Zoey is a 6-year-old Sheltie. Both dogs have been rescue dogs and have brought us much joy. Sydney convinced me to bring two more animals into the house. We adopted two kitties from the shelter and now have Bentley and Charlie.
