HI,  My name is Lynn Chambers. I was born and raised in Sherman, Texas and begin my teaching career at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas at the Early Childhood Laboratory teaching Pre- Kindergarten.  I then moved to Arlington, Texas and taught kindergarten and first grade for 6 years.  For the next fourteen years I enjoyed staying home as a full time mom and occasionally substitute teaching. It was the best of both worlds.  Home changed a lot during this time as we moved with my husband’s job with State Farm Insurance, from Texas to Illinois, to Minnesota and now for the last 9 years in Nebraska.

I am beginning my 7th year of teaching here at Rousseau! My first two years I taught Reading Recovery and then moved to Kindergarten. I have loved my time here at Rousseau and feel very fortunate to have found such a great school home! I have been married to my husband Scott for 28 years. We have two daughters, Courtney and Caylee. Our oldest daughter Courtney is 23. She graduated in May, 2011 from the University of Missouri and is in her second year of teaching with the Teach For America program in Tulsa, OK. Our youngest daughter Caylee graduated from Lincoln Southwest High School in May, 2011 and has started her second year at Mizzou this fall. We have two very spoiled animals, a cat, Toby and a very adventurous dog Bella. Your child will hear many Bella stories throughout the year and maybe even get to meet her!

I can’t wait to meet your child and I know we will have so much fun learning and playing together.  I love teaching kindergarten and appreciate your sharing your child with me!

My name is Kim Bowen and I have been teaching Kindergarten the last five years at Rousseau. Prior to that, I was fortunate to stay home with my children for eight years. I started my career teaching 4th grade for eight years and 3rd grade for two years.

My husband, Tom and I have two children. Meredith is a junior at Lincoln Southwest. She is involved in track and is a cheerleader with Cheer and Dance Express. Dane is an 8th grader and loves playing football and baseball. He and my husband also love to hunt and fish. We live on an acreage southwest of Lincoln. Going to sporting events and taking care of four horses keeps our family busy. I also enjoy reading, cooking and traveling.

I am so blessed to be part of the Rousseau staff.

LISA CALLAHAN

Hello! My name is Lisa Callahan and this is my 9th year of teaching. Before joining the Rousseau staff I taught at Campbell and Pershing in Lincoln as well as four years in Elkhorn and two years in Lexington, NE.

I grew up in Kearney, NE. In 2003 I graduated from the University of Nebraska at Kearney with a degree in Elementary Education. I completed my Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Doane College in 2009.

Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my husband Sean and dog Emme. We enjoy traveling, golfing and cheering on our favorite teams!

I believe in creating a positive learning environment where students are actively engaged in learning. The students and families here at Rousseau have been a joy to work with. I also feel very lucky to work with such fun and dedicated teachers at Rousseau!

CORI HUGHES

My name is Cori Hughes and I am originally from Auburn, NE where I attended Auburn High School through my junior year. My family and I moved across the state to McCook, NE where I graduated high school. I attended McCook Community College and played volleyball/basketball. I received my teaching degree from the University of Nebraska at Kearney and completed my student teaching in Houston, Texas.

I started my teaching career in Houston, TX, where I taught Kindergarten for two and a half years. I was fortunate enough to take a leave of absence for four years to marry my husband and have our daughter. I then came back to teaching and taught Kindergarten at Clinton Elementary for one year, substitute taught for one year and last year I split my days between Rousseau Elementary (Reading Recovery) and McPhee Elementary (Academic Interventionist). I am now enjoying Kindergarten again at Rousseau, it is a great place to be and I feel very lucky to be a part of the teaching staff!

I love spending time with my husband, Travis and our daughter, Harper. I am very fortunate because I get to see Harper everyday at Rousseau, she is in Mrs. Callahan’s Kindergarten class! As a family we enjoy doing things outdoors and staying active, in the summer you can find us at the swimming pool. I enjoy traveling, running and reading.
