Meet Your Principal

Dr. Chris Deibler

I became the Principal at Pound Middle School in June of 1997, having begun my career in the Lincoln Public Schools in August of 1986 as a teacher at Lefler Middle School.  While at Lefler I  spent eight years as a teacher of Physical Education, Health,  and Science, and three years as the Associate Principal.  I graduated with a Bachelors Degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1986, a Masters in Educational Administration in 1992, and a Doctorate in Middle Level Education Leadership in 2000.

A native of Mullen, NE, I grew up in the Sandhills area of Nebraska.  My family relied on cattle ranching for income, and my brother still runs the family ranch, leasing it from my mother.  Although it is more difficult than ever to do, I still enjoy going to the ranch and spending time in the open spaces.

I am married to Lorrie Ford, a former English teacher in the Lincoln Public Schools.  We have two daughters, Nicole and Mandy.  Nicole (Dirk) lives in Overland Park, KS, and has a son, Henry (11).  He is in fifth grade.  Mandy (Jeremie) has a daughter, Savvi (9), and a son, Merritt (7).  Savvi is a third grader and Merrittt is in first grade. They live in the Boston area.  Being grandparents is our “favorite sport” although we don’t get to play it nearly often enough.  We have come to enjoy an annual summer trek to the Black Hills and Fort Robinson State Park in northwest Nebraska with the kids and grand kids.

I enjoy two main hobbies – football and cooking.  When I am not attending a game in person, the two hobbies go well together when watching games on TV.  There’s nothing quite like good ballgame food!  My favorite teams are the Nebraska Cornhuskers and the Kansas City Chiefs.

Since its opening in 1963, Pound has been a high achieving school.  Our aim is to keep it that way.  This only happens with a strong staff of teachers and support personnel working together with students and parents to maintain an excellent environment for learning.  It is my honor to serve as the Principal at Pound Middle School.

I can be reached at Pound during the school day at 402-436-1217 or by email at cdeibler@lps.org.
