Deceiving: making someone believe something that isn’t true

Crouching: squatting down

Surge: something suddenly grows or moves forward

Crucial: really needed, important

Furiously: Done with a lot of effort, energy or speed

Instinctively: Reacting to something without thinking

Submerge: To cover something completely

Muffled: Something is made quieter because something is blocking some of the sound

Flickering: Getting brighter then darker

Flinch: A quick movement of the body or face in reaction to something (usually unexpected)

exertion: A lot of physical or mental effort

Coordinating: to organize an activity so that people involved in it work well together and achieve a good result

Accustomed: To become familiar with something and accept it as normal

Jutted: Something that sticks out further than the other things around it

Glinted: To shine back off of; reflect

Perished: to die, especially in a terrible or sudden way

Maneuver: To move or turn skillfully

Emerge: To appear or come out from somewhere

Sprawled: To be lying or sitting stretched out in a random or careless way

Bobbed: To move up and down

Clutched:To hold something tightly

Susceptible: Likely to suffer from a certain illness or be affected by a specific problem

Upheaval: Strong, sudden or violent change

Ominous: Making you feel that something bad is going to happen

Empathy: The ability to understand other people’s feelings and problems

Verge: To be very close to the edge, end or limit of something

Hoist: To raise, lift, or pull up something

Weary: Very tired or bored, especially because you have been doing something for a long time

Fatigue: great tiredness

Magnitude: the great size or importance of something

Predicament: a difficult or unpleasant situation in which you don’t know what to do or have to make a difficult choice

Silhouetted: the outline or general shape of something

Gauge: to measure something by using a particular method or tool

Hysterical: uncontrollably emotional
