Our first math PLC goal for our students is that they are able to round to the nearest ten and hundred by using a number line.
When we round to the nearest ten, we need to think about how many tens are already in the number and if we are close to making a new group of ten or closer to not making a new group.
When we round to the nearest hundred, we need to think about how many hundreds are already in the number and if we are close to making a new group of one hundred or closer to not making a new group.
