Varsity Concert Choir

Select Varsity Concert Choir is a mixed choir (guys & gals) that meets during Block 3B, Monday through Friday. Members were selected by audition in the early Spring of 2016 to be members of the ensemble during the 2019-20 school. year. In this class, students learn principles of music theory, music history, basics of vocal pedagogy, choral literature, and rehearsal/performance ettiquite. The choir performs at 4 concerts/year as well as the LPS Large Group Contest.  Varsity Concert Choir has been selected to perform at the Nebraska Music Educators Conference on November 21, 2019.  This will be this groups 3rd time to have this honor.  Previous years were in 2007 and 2014.  In 2008 and 2013 and 2018 they performed a joint concert with Drake University.  This group was a workshop choir at the 2009 NMEA Conference at UNL. For 12 years (2006-2017), Varsity Concert Choir performed on the Omaha Symphony Collaborative Concert at the Holland Performing Arts Center.  This was always a November Highlight, performing opera choruses and major works….”Messiah”, “Carmina Burana”, “Elijah”, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “Requiem”, and Mozart’s “Requiem”.  The 2019-20 Select Varsity Concert Choir features 73 voices.
