September News

Tonight, September 16 is the last evening for Fall conferences.  Teachers will be available to talk to parents from 3:30 to 6:30 in the 6B pod.

On September 24, our class will be visiting the University of Nebraska campus and viewing the sculptures around the Sheldon Art Gallery.  We will be leaving Scott Middle School at about 10:15 and should arrive back about 11:45.  If you would like to meet us by the Sheldon Art Gallery, please let me know.  We’d love for you to join us!

On Friday, Sept 12, 6B kicked off our first service project of the year.  We are collecting money from now until September 26 to buy food for the Food Bank.  On October 7, we will be walking to Super Saver to purchase nonperishable items.  If every student could donate just one dollar, it will help our efforts to help those in need.  Please remember, however, your child is certainly not required to donate money.  We are looking for parent volunteers who are willing to help us shop for this worthwhile cause.  Our class will be leaving the building at about 8:10 and should arrive at Super Savor by about 8:25.  If your schedule allows you to help us, please fill out your child’s permission forms to let us know.  All permission forms should be returned to school by September 26.

The Unit 1, Week 5 testing will be tomorrow, September 17.  On week 6, we do not take a spelling test.  Instead, there will be unit testing which covers reading comprehension, vocabulary, and grammar.  The Unit 1 testing will be on September 19 and 22.  Students will write meaningful sentences with ten of the unit 1 vocabulary words on September 23.  Week 6 is not a full five day testing cycle, so Unit 2, Week 1 testing will be Tuesday, Sept 30.

Literature Groups will meet on Thursday of this week, September 18.  The Cay should be ready to discuss chapters 1-4.  Timothy of the Cay will discuss chapters 1-15.  Tall Tales will discuss chapters 1-42.  Happy Reading!
