Create a safe and caring place where we all grow and learn together
Welcome to the Calvert Elementary School website! Calvert is the home of the “Calvert Coyotes”. We are committed to providing constant communication and hope that parents, families and neighbors use this website as a resource for information pertaining to our school community. Our priority is student achievement and providing the resources that will enable our students to meet and exceed the district goals. We work hard so students can be the best they can be!
Our mission: “Create a safe and caring place where we all grow and learn together” is embedded in our activity as well as philosophy.
At Calvert, we provide a safe and productive environment. There are two guiding principles for acceptable behavior at Calvert: it is never okay to be hurtful; and it is never okay to be disruptive. We are committed to meeting the needs of all students, while maintaining high levels of expectations. The Calvert school expectations are reviewed and practiced on an ongoing basis.
Calvert Elementary includes grades Kindergarten through Fifth, with three ExCITE classes for children ages 2-4. At total of 417 students attend Calvert when adding the 54 enrolled Preschool students in the ExCITE program. 55% of our students qualify for free or reduced lunch. Specialists who serve our students include, Music, Creative Expression and Physical Education. At Calvert we strive to meet high expectations with additional programs such as Team Mates, Reading Recovery, Reading intervention, Math intervention, Special Education, Read Tutors, and Parent groups (PTSO) and (PIRC/SNAC). Calvert also has an unique partnership with the Community Learning Center (CLC) and is linked to the Lincoln Parks and Recreation which offers academic and enrichment clubs for students K-5th grade.
During the school year 2009-2010 Calvert Elementary was declared a Title I Targeted Assisted School.
Our school goals for 2011-2012:
Professional Learning Communities focus on SMART goals at each grade level. Teachers evaluate student progress and design lessons to meet the needs of all students. Each grade level has a visual display throughout the school displaying student achievement.
Best regards-
