In August, The Nebraska Mission of Mercy will be offering a free dental clinic to all who are interested in participating! On Friday, August 23 and Saturday, August 24 beginning at 5:30 a.m., all interested members of the community can go to the Pershing Center (226 South Centennial Mall) to receive free dental care! There is no need to sign up, but the services are offered on a first come, first serve basis.
If you do not need services but would like to volunteer, please go to Nebraska Missions of Mercy’s Sign-up to register!
On Saturday, April 20 at 12 p.m., the UNL Rodeo will be hosting a Kids Day at the Lancaster Event Center (4100 N 84th Street)! Children and parents of all ages are invited to learn more about the events at the rodeo, such as barrel racing, bull riding, and roping! The event from 12 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. is free for all ages, and at 1:30 p.m. there is a performance. Adult-accompanied children under the age of 12 enter free on Saturday and adult tickets are 10$ each, or $12 each if purchased the day of the event!
On Saturday, May 25, 2013 at 10:00 am at the Lincoln Children’s Zoo, the Lincoln Fire Department will be holding its annual Fun Run Walk! All family members can participate in the race at no charge! Afterwards, participating families can ride the train for free, participate in tours of the fire trucks, engines, and ambulances as well as participate in tours of the Fire Safety House, LES, LPD, and Emergency Management! The Fun Run Walk participants do not receive Zoo admittance.
Families must register each member who will be participating in the race and can turn their registration forms the day of the race at the zoo. If families would like t-shirts for $5 each, they must send their t-shirt orders to:

All t-shirts must be ordered by Monday, May 6 and can be picked up Friday, May 24 at the fire station. There will be t-shirts for sale the day of the race, but quantities are limited! For registration forms, click here or visit any local fire station or the Lincoln Children’s Zoo!
Do your children like to play sports? Are you looking for activities for your children to do this summer? The YMCA will be offering sport camps this summer for children 4 years old to 16 years old! The camps will run from June 3 to August 9 in the morning or in the afternoon! The YMCA will offer camps for soccer, softball, baseball, cheerleading, football, basketball, “speed and explosive” for children who like to run and participate in track, and volleyball. Registration dates vary but turn in your YMCA registration form as soon as possible! Worried about the cost of the camp? Before registering, fill out the Financial Assistance Form to see if you qualify for a reduced-price fee! The YMCA camps are a great way for children to be active, meet new friends and play!
Is your family looking for a free, fun, and exciting activity to do in April? On April 13, 2013 from 1o a.m. to 5 p.m., the Lincoln Children’s Museum is holding a Lincoln Log building challenge! Watch as UNL students and a group of DLR architects attempt to build the tallest Lincoln Log structure that may go down in the Guiness World Book of Records! Families can get their pictures taken as lumberjack in the photo booth as well as enjoy music by UNL’s Boots and Cats. For more information, click here!
