  1. Kristin C. shared “milestones” each Data Process Team should have reached by this point:

— roles determined

–power standards decided (at least first semester)

–meeting calendar drafted (use Zimbra calendar to schedule meetings)

–first planning meeting done and implementing strategy(ies)

–begin second planning meeting

  1. Kristin C. led a conversation about the impact of change on the school’s culture, communication, input, and order. She reminded all that the SIP leaders’ attitudes greatly influence how their teams think/feel about the changes. Following is a summary of the partners’ talk.

Culture (the “standard operating procedure”, the feeling tone of the school)

We’re all learning how to use data together. Teams are getting better at sharing and using student data.

Teachers voices are heard in their teams.

The DTP gives perspective about students—certainly highlights those kids new to Randolph or new to LPS, especially in writing.

Joint planning reinforces our belief and practice that all teachers work with all kids.

Communication (how information is shared within and among teams)

Email really helps jumpstart our team’s conversations.

Our grade level has 3 “new to grade’s curriculum” teachers—we’re all re-learning.

Input (teams’ deciding what standards & objectives students need, when to meet, best strategies to use)

Our special education teachers are part of our team, and we rely on them.

Using google docs brings a great transparency to all our work. We can see others’ ideas, as well as when data is loaded.

Love the time frame flexibility in making time fit the objectives.

Order (thinking about the systems we use)

We’re meeting teachers “where they are” in our process learning so they can meet kids where they are in the learning process.

  1. Although time ran out, Kristin encouraged SIP members to email her with any data team process questions.

Grade 5 offered a question about the amount of time the DTP is taking. That was echoed by grade 3.

Nicole B. will do a quick “show and tell” at staff meeting on 9/16/14 on how to type into google doc without erasing all info.
