Students will master the following objectives, in conjunction with ACTFL progress indicators:

First Quarter:

  • I can talk about my past, present and future

    • I can talk about recent and habitual past occurrences.

    • I can express my plans for the future, and make predictions

    • I can give simple commands, requests or recommendations.

    • I can communicate what is currently happening

  • I can express wishes, doubts and emotions.

  • I can describe qualities in a person I haven’t met.

  • I can describe something for which I am looking.

  • I can talk about my interests and hobbies, including activities I am involved in during and after school.

Second Quarter:

  • I can ask for and provide descriptions of places I know and also places I would like to visit.

  • I can give a clear and detailed story about childhood memories, such as what happened during vacations or memorable events and answer questions about my story.

  • I can give a short presentation on a famous person, landmark, or cultural event.

  • I can talk about artists from other countries.

  • I can give some information about something I plan to do.

  • I can discuss future plans, such as where I want to live and what I will be doing in the next few years.

  • I can exchange detailed information about my personal and professional interests/goals.

  • I can exchange information about my professional qualities and job expectations.

  • I can explain to someone who was absent what took place in class or on the job.

Third Quarter:

  • I can talk about my personal items and how I use technology.

  • I can tell an anecdote from the past, such as what happened when I was traveling to Perú.

  • I can talk about a hypothetical situation, such as what would happen if aliens were to visit our planet.

  • I can discuss membership in an organization or club.

  • I can interview someone about his/her professional interests and activities.

  • I can talk about jobs and career plans.

  • I can discuss future plans, such as where I want to live and what I will be doing in the next few years.

End of class:

  • I can tell a friend how I’m going to replace an item that I borrowed and broke/lost.

  • I can give some information about activities I did.

  • I can ask for and provide information about specific events.

  • I can share my reactions about a current event and explain why the event is in the news.

  • I can give a presentation about a favorite movie or song and tell why I like it.

  • I can give reasons for my preferences.

  • I can ask for information, details, and explanations during a conversation.

  • I can exchange general information about leisure and travel, including information about Spanish-speaking countries (i.e. Ecuador, Perú, Argentina, Chile, Venezuela and Colombia).
