East High CS

Thank you for visiting this site! We have a full four year offering of computer science (CS) classes at East and are excited about the growth we’ve seen in the last four years and the success that our students are seeing in the classroom.  For 2021-22 there are four classes that you could sign up for, below you will find more information about each of them.  If you have any questions please contact either Mr. Ahlschwede (tahlsch@lps.org) or Mrs. Roh (lroh@lps.org).

Use this link to view the Computer Science offerings at East.  Here is a screenshot overview of a typical course progression.

Freshmen can enroll in AP Computer Science Principles! SO, if you are a current 8th grader and enjoy your middle computer science class, you should just keep on going and sign up for AP CSP!

What are students saying about CS @ East?

About AP CSP:

  • “I get credit for an AP class without the usual AP class workload.  There is rarely homework, and the class can be understood by people at any level of computer knowledge.”
  • People are cooperative, and I can get inspired by my classmates on programming something incredible.
  • The opportunity to learn about developing technology and coding in a positive classroom environment.
  • Unlike any other class I’ve taken.  I’ve learned a lot of applicable skills I can use in my future career.
  • I like that previous experience isn’t necessary to succeed in the class.
  • I like the fantastic teacher student environment

About East HS CS Classes:

Lincoln Public Schools is working toward a goal of 5050 by 2020. Which means by the year 2020 we had a goal of having our CS classes be 50% female and 50% male.  Currently at East we are at 43% female, which is above the 21% average of the other five high schools.

We’d love ALL students to take CS classes but especially girls who are interested in computer science.

We have a place for you, we believe in you, and we know you can be successful.

There are many many opportunities for girls in CS and we’d love to start your journey in the field here. For more information about our district level CS, visit this link.
